Wong Maye-E

Wong Maye-E joined The Associated Press as a staff photographer in 2003. She worked for The Straits Times 2000-2003 in Singapore. She graduated from Temasek Polytechnic's School of Design with a diploma in visual communications in 2000, where she majored in photography and minored in graphic design.

Based in Singapore with The Associated Press, her work is centered around sports reportage, entertainment, politics, and regional news stories. She has documented major events such as the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, and the 2014 World Cup. She has also covered headlining news events such as the Thailand and Hong Kong political protests, the devastation of typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and the garment factory collapse in Dhaka.

She is AP's lead photographer for North Korea. Her responsibilities include news and everyday life in the reclusive country.
