Nathalie Bertrams

Nathalie Bertrams is a freelance journalist and photographer who publishes in international media, including The Guardian, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Al Jazeera, Mongabay, BBC, de Groene Amsterdammer, and the Mail & Guardian. Her reporting focuses on globalization, wildlife trade, and the environment.
She is a National Geographic Explorer and both a fellow of the Robert Bosch foundation and the Earth Journalism Network. She is a grantee of the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, Free Press Unlimited, Fonds BJP, Kunstfonds, IJ4EU, and the European Journalism Center.
Bertrams was awarded the Research Prize Eastern Europe in 2020, the Hostwriter Story Prize in 2017 and 2018, and the Lorenzo Natali Media Prize by the European Commission in 2015. She was a finalist for the Martin Lagois Photo Prize, Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards, Felix Schoeller Photo Awards, and the Kolga Tbilisi Photo Awards. Her work is exhibited in art shows internationally.
