Naje Lataillade

Naje Lataillade is a Brooklyn based filmmaker whose work has found him traveling to a wide range of countries on projects as diverse as a fiction feature in Monterrey, Mexico, an experimental film in Oslo, Norway, and a social documentary in Santiago, Cuba, among others. Most recently, Naje worked as a cinematographer for Modern Slavery, a documentary series exploring today's forms of forced labor including human trafficking, bonded laborers, and child soldiers.
Naje's work has been awarded at several international film festivals and has been broadcast on various television stations throughout Europe, where he's lived for the past 5 years. In 2005, he was honored with a retrospective of his work at the Lens Politica Film Festival in Helsinki, Finland. In 2007 he was selected by FADER FILMS/Current TV as one of the 50 young filmmakers paving the way for the future of non-narrative film. He is also one of the original founders of the International Sh-Art Movement which started in Cuba with the intention of bringing surrealism to documentary filmmaking.
He received a BA in Economics and another in Political Science from UCLA in 2000. He later studied cinematography at Germany's Filmakademie from 2003-2004.
