Marlowe Starling

Marlowe Starling is an environmental reporter from Miami, pursuing her master's in science, health and environmental reporting at New York University. She graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor's in journalism and a specialization in wildlife ecology.
As an undergraduate, she interned for Mongabay, an international environmental news organization, where she wrote long-form stories on scientific discoveries and environmental justice issues. She also produced videos.
She has reported for WUFT News in Gainesville, Florida, and Fresh Take Florida, a statewide news service. She has written feature stories for Our Town and Senior Times magazines.
Among several WUFT special reporting projects, she reported on new research showing how humans directly increase the severity of red tides in southwest Florida; investigated "forever chemicals" known as PFAS in Florida's landfills and environment; and analyzed Florida's hazardous problem with septic tanks.
Her first international byline was a feature story about youth-led natural resource conservation in Earth Island Journal, reported on the ground in Tanzania in summer 2019.
