TEACHER FELLOW

Maria is a dedicated educator with more than 20 years teaching Spanish and training teachers in Spain, England, Syria, Poland and the United States. Maria has worked in different academic contexts, from teaching adults at the Instituto Cervantes, College, to her current work at Bard Early College High School-Queens where currently she is teaching Spanish I, Spanish Heritage 1, and Spanish Intermediate III. Maria has always combined her teacher job with her role as a trainer. Maria has organized online and on-site training courses for institutions like the Instituto Cervantes, the NYC Department of Education, or school districts with dual language programs, developing resources for the classes and the training. A short list of presentation topics includes: Techniques to improve oral interaction; How to start a Class Observation Peers Project; Group Dynamics and Language Acquisition; Short tales and Images; Writing as a creative and interactive skill; Integrating Culture and Literature in Spanish Language Class; Affective and effective Feedback; or First Steps in Teacher Training Course.
