Lygia Navarro is a freelance writer focused on foreign coverage, particularly of Latin America and Latin American issues in the United States.
Navarro has reported from Mexico, Cuba, Chile, and Argentina for outlets such as the Virginia Quarterly Review, theUtne Reader, the Associated Press, the Christian Science Monitor, PBS FRONTLINE/World, Religion Dispatches, Afar, and the public radio programs Marketplace and Latino USA. She has received reporting fellowships from Middlebury College, the Hechinger Institute on Education and the Media at Columbia University, and the Phillips Foundation. She is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley.
