Lupe M. Rodríguez

Lupe M. Rodríguez is a scientist with an activist heart, dedicated to seeing all people live in full salud, dignidad y justicia (health, dignity, and justice). She serves as the executive director of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice (Latina Institute).
 
Rodríguez changed course from a career in science to focus on reproductive rights and justice work, and has worked in the field for over 15 years. Before joining the Latina Institute, Rodríguez worked in Mexico and Peru on reproductive justice issues and then moved to California to serve as executive director of the largest abortion fund in California, Access Reproductive Justice, and was then the vice president of public affairs at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte and its action fund, Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte.

Throughout her career, Rodríguez has worked to help those most impacted by injustice through her experiences in providing direct service and practical support, organizing and education, working in policy advocacy and political and electoral campaigns, and now leading a national organization. 

She currently chairs the Community Advisory Board for the Center for Clinical Research at Stanford Medical School. She has served on several boards, including the Center for American Progress’ Reproductive Justice Advisory Board, California Family Health Council's Board of Directors, as chair of the Commission on the Status of Women in Santa Clara County, and as treasurer of the Board of Directors for California Latinas for Reproductive Justice.

Rodríguez graduated from Harvard University with a degree in neurobiology.
