Livia Garofalo

Livia Garofalo is a cultural and medical anthropologist, and a researcher with Data & Society Research Institute, where she focuses on technologies and health care.
Her projects have examined historical and economic trauma and the delivery of critical care in Argentina; the intersection of labor and technology in psychotherapy; AI and mental health; and the community impacts of data centers in Pennsylvania.
Garofalo holds a doctorate in anthropology and a master’s in public health from Northwestern University. Her work has been funded by NSF, Fulbright, Wenner-Gren, and the Internet Society Foundation.
