Kara Fox

Kara Fox is an award-winning journalist and photographer whose work explores the intersection of geopolitics, gender, conflict, and climate.
Since 2016, Fox has worked at CNN International, crafting features from across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, ranging from alternative youth movements in Russia, the persecution of LGBTQ+ people in Turkey, and the plight of Rwandan dissidents.
She also worked as a visual journalist, documenting daily life in the isolated kingdom of Bhutan and political movements in Myanmar, Cambodia, Haiti, and the United Kingdom. Fox began her career in New York, where she worked as a photo editor at National Geographic Adventure and the World Picture Network.
As a 2023–24 Ted Scripps fellow in Environmental Journalism at the University of Colorado Boulder, she researched how climate change poses unique threats to women and girls.
Fox's work has been cited in Congress and in the Irish parliament.
