Isayen Herrera

A Venezuelan journalist with at least 12 years of experience, Isayen Herrera graduated from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. She writes about human rights, humanitarian, and corruption issues.

Herrera works for the investigative journalism portal Armando.info and collaborates with The New York Times on current issues in Venezuela. She previously worked for the newspaper El Nacional.

She was a finalist in the Livingston Awards at the University of Michigan for her international coverage in 2021 with The New York Times on the reproductive rights of Venezuelan women. She won a 2021 Press and Society Institute Award in the Investigative Journalism category for the report “From Merchants to Scientists: The Real Miracle of Carvativir,” published in Armando.info. Judges said Herrera's reporting “reveals ... the reality behind a supposed cure for COVID-19 promoted by the Venezuelan Government.”
