Isabel Alarcón

Isabel Alarcón is an Ecuadorian journalist specialized in environmental issues. For the past eight years, she has worked as a reporter at El Comercio, Ecuador’s largest newspaper. Since 2017 she has been writing and investigating about local and international environmental issues. 

In 2017 she won a scholarship to attend a one-week e-mobility training course in Germany organized by International Journalism Programme. In 2019 she won one of the two Douglas Tweedale Memorial Fellowship scholarships, organized by the International Center for Journalists. In 2020, she won a scholarship to attend the online course on wildlife trafficking organized by Fundación Gabo, WCS, and WWF. That same year, she wrote, produced, and hosted three podcasts created by United Nations Development Programme-Ecuador to explain and promote the country's nationally determined contributions.
