Finlan Adhitya Aldan is an Indonesia-based freelance journalist specializing in the country's environmental issues and their global context. With a background in geoscience, he frequently employs spatial data analysis and map visualizations to craft compelling stories.

Finlan works with various media organizations, including Garda Animalia, Project Multatuli, and Mongabay Indonesia. His projects span extensive topics such as wildlife trafficking, flawed municipal waste management, and market-driven agricultural land grabs.

His work has received support by several fellowships and grants, including the Pulitzer Center, Internews' Earth Journalism Network, and the Bela Satwa Project by Garda Animalia and Auriga Nusantara.

His recent projects focused on the international trafficking of turtles from Indonesian Papua, which exploits and harms the livelihood of indigenous communities. Another of his notable reports concerns the conflict between crocodiles and humans in Bangka Belitung, Indonesia, which has pushed local governments to establish a Wildlife Special Task Force to address such conflicts.
