Brandy Tomhave
GUEST SPEAKER
Brandy Tomhave, an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation, has dedicated her legal career to untangling federal policies that undermine tribal sovereignty and violate the rights of Native people.
Working with her partner and husband, Jeff Tomhave, she has authored legislation to improve Indian Country, including a bill that for the first time provided American Indians the same HIV/AIDS treatment as other Americans.
A former public defender and senior staffer for the House Corrections Caucus, Tomhave created the Arizona Tribal Corrections Caucus and helped author its white paper about the lack of medical care inside tribal jails, titled “Locked Up and Forgotten.”
