Alex Martin is an undergraduate student at the University of Virginia. In high school and college, he learned about the Latino community in his Northern Virginia community and practiced his Spanish, while playing soccer and working at a supermarket in a Latinx neighborhood.
Those experiences have inspired Martin to pursue a degree in Latin American studies. He has had a variety of internship experiences, including as a bank teller-in-training, a hotel management intern, and an acquisitions intern with a commercial real estate firm, where he learned how to evaluate acquisitions using spreadsheet models.
Professionally, his path is still unclear, but he hopes to devote his professional life to economic development in Latin America either by working on government policy or through advocacy. Becoming a more global person is one of his biggest personal goals.
Martin likes to play soccer and enjoys strategy games and card games.
