Akwete McAlister

Akwete McAlister is completing her 20^th year as a teacher at The Career Center High School in Winston Salem, NC.  She teaches U.S. Government, Comparative Government, and Human Geography.  Introduced to the work of the Pulitzer Center through a district professional development training, she was taken by the presentation of Pulitzer Center staff and resources.  She has enjoyed journalists from Latin America speaking to her students on the rain forest being overtaken by developers and used articles and photos from the conflict in Yemen in her courses.  She is a graduate of Spelman College and Wake Forest University.
