Naiara Bellio

Naiara Bellio is an investigative journalist specializing in the use of automated systems in the public sector. She was a reporter for AlgorithmWatch, where she also coordinated the Algorithmic Accountability Reporting Fellowship and mentored journalists and researchers from across Europe covering topics such as automated discrimination, surveillance, and the impact of the use of generative AI.

She has worked as a researcher with civil society organizations like AlgoRace, EuroMed Rights, and Statewatch in closely examining the use of automated systems by law enforcement and public administrations in Spain, especially their impact on vulnerable population groups, like migrants and gender-based violence victims.
