Jimmy Cloutier

Jimmy Cloutier is a data and investigative journalist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. His reporting has covered a wide range of topics, from dark money in elections to mine safety and the federal government's failure to protect workers from toxic dust.
Before joining the Post-Gazette, he covered campaign finance and lobbying for OpenSecrets, a nonprofit that tracks the influence of money in U.S. politics.
His reporting has won state and national awards, including from the Society of Professional Journalists, the Society of Environmental Journalists, and the Association of Business Journalists.
Cloutier studied English literature at Virginia Commonwealth University and earned a master's in investigative journalism from the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism at Arizona State University. Before becoming a journalist, he taught high school and served two years with the U.S. Peace Corps, teaching English in rural Armenia.
