Abigail Hakas

Abigail Hakas is a staff reporter with Next Generation Newsroom, a regional news service based out of Point Park University's Center for Media Innovation in Pittsburgh.
She previously worked as a contributor for Pennsylvania Capital-Star and covered the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting trial for the Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle and Pittsburgh Union Progress. She also served as the opinion editor for Chatham University’s student media outlet, the Communiqué, before graduating in 2024.
She has a strong affection for hyperlocal community news coverage, which she has done for many outlets across Southwestern Pennsylvania.
