Imagine being forced to flee your country, only to be persecuted in the next? Far from Home is the story of Samira Faizi, who was forced to flee Afghanistan in 2021. She ended up in India—only to get stuck in limbo. She is now grappling with changing refugee laws in the country and rising violence against Muslims. This is a story of refugees in transit and what happens to them when they end up in countries where the entire system is against them.

Join director Ankita M. Kumar for a special screening of her documentary, which is now in consideration for the Oscar for Best Short Documentary. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Kumar, who will be present in-person, and Brent Huffman, the producer, who will join virtually. The event will be followed by a short reception with food and snacks.

This free, public event for all is co-hosted by the Pulitzer Center, which funded the film through its Reporting Fellows program. Save your seat by registering here.
