Deborah Amos

Deborah Amos is a Ferris Professor of Journalism in Residence at Princeton University. She was first named to the position in 2012 and has returned to Princeton as the university expands its journalism program.
Amos is also a freelance reporter based in Princeton, New Jersey, with a focus on international news, migration, and accountability.
In 2026, she received an honorary doctorate in humanities from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
A former NPR international correspondent, Amos reported for more than three decades from the Middle East. In 2003, she returned to NPR to cover the region after a decade in television, including work on ABC's Nightline and World News Tonight and the PBS programs NOW with Bill Moyers and Frontline.
