SECTIONS
Eli Hiller School of the Art Institute of Chicago

Filipino-American filmmaker, photographer, and Pulitzer Center grantee Eli Hiller documents the times across the globe: refugee crises, housing disparities, social movements, and environmental justice.

In 2020, he was on the front lines of Midwestern communities grappling with police brutality, the COVID-19 pandemic, and false claims of a stolen presidential election. Hiller’s vibrant and powerful photos and documentary reporting are influenced by his awareness of how imperialism and cultural influences have produced the realities of disenfranchised people.

Hiller will be at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago on March 23 to visit classrooms and the Gene Siskel Film Center. The hourlong evening program will include a presentation of Hiller’s work and a discussion about his process and perspective.

Admission is free for SAIC students, faculty, and staff.
