Andrea Kalin, a filmmaker, immersive artist, and founder of Washington, D.C.-based Spark Media, will speak virtually with a Southern Illinois University Carbondale class about polarization and elections on September 19, 2024.
The class will screen Public Defender, Kalin's 40-minute film that follows the relationships between two January 6 defendants and their lawyer, Heather Shaner.
Kalin has produced and directed 12 award-winning documentary features and dozens of shorts. She has worked in 25 countries. Her storytelling has earned her more than 100 industry awards and honors, including a Primetime Emmy, a Gracie Award, and nominations for a Golden Globe and Writers Guild of America award.
