Join legendary journalist Marvin Kalb on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Politics and Prose in Washington, DC, for a discussion on his newly published memoir, "The Year I was Peter the Great: 1956 Khrushchev, Stalin's ghost, and a young American in Russia."

In 1956, Kalb first travelled to Russia as a diplomatic attaché, during a time of the anti-communist uprising, and followed by Nikita Khrushchev's denunciation of Stalin. In this memoir, Kalb speaks about everything from intrigue to ice-cream diplomacy, documenting the unpredictable nature of the Soviet Union under Khrushchev.

Kalb is currently a senior adviser to the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and a senior nonresident fellow at Brookings Institute.
