Lisa Armstrong To Visit Glendale Community College and Discuss Cruelty, Neglect, Abuse in Texas Juvenile Detention Facilities

Pulitzer Center grantee Lisa Armstrong will visit Glendale Community College near Los Angeles, CA on September 26, 2023, to meet with students, visit classes, and deliver a keynote presentation. 

Armstrong, who is currently reporting on incarceration, is a professor at the University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. Her work has appeared in The Intercept, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Mother Jones, USA TODAY, among others.

Her Pulitzer Center-supported project, Trouble in Texas: Neglect, Abuse at State Juvenile Detention Facilities, follows an at-risk juvenile inmate’s dire journey through the justice system in Texas. He was failed by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD), anemic oversight, and representatives at all levels of state government.
