National Geographic Live! invites writer Peter Gwin and photographer Marcus Bleasdale on Friday, November 21, to take an in-depth look at the power struggles and conflicts in the Central African Republic, a country largely overlooked by Western media.

The Pulitzer Center supported Gwin to report from the Central African Republic, where hostility between Seleka and Anti Balaka militias has torn the country apart, and from the remote far eastern part of the country, where the notorious Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony has taken advantage of the security vacuum. Bleasdale has been reporting for National Geographic on the conflict since it escalated in 2013. Pulitzer Center Executive Director Jon Sawyer will join Gwin and Bleasdale at the National Geographic Live! event as they offer their insights into the ongoing crisis.

Previously, Gwin embedded with Tuareg rebels and reported from the heart of the Sahara Desert on uranium reserves, terrorists, smugglers, and bandits threatening to control the northern parts of Mali and Niger. Bleasdale reported on the Lord's Resistance Army and surfaced the use of child soldiers, sex slaves, and forced labor to mine precious metals in Central Africa.
