hi/lang Photo Exhibition
The hi/lang photo exhibition highlights the often-unheard voices—those who have lived in harmony with Indonesia's magnificent nature, who protect and depend on it, yet are frequently marginalized. The exhibition presents various hidden realities from remote corners of the archipelago, reported by journalists deeply concerned about Indonesia's environment. Audiences will discover stories of small-scale fishermen in the waters of Natuna and Arafura struggling to navigate amid large foreign vessels, as well as Zanegi Village elders' children, who are suffering from malnutrition due to the loss of food sources in their forests. These are just some of the many stories that will be shared in this exhibition. The exhibition also sheds light on the deteriorating state of Indonesia's natural environment and offers a glimmer of hope for its future restoration.
The exhibition invites future leaders to participate in a movement that seeks to care for Indonesia's natural environment, including paying attention to the traditional communities who live with and for nature.
About the Visual Works
The hi/lang exhibition features 56 visual works, including 50 photographs by local and international journalists supported by the Pulitzer Center, and six illustrations by artists whose works are inspired by Pulitzer Center-supported stories. These journalists take risks to give voice to marginalized communities affected by environmental changes.
