As part of a two-day visit to Washington University in St. Louis, Pulitzer Center grantee Simón Ríos will speak on “Covering Immigration under Trump 2.0” on April 2, 2026.

Ríos will discuss the urgent challenges immigrant families face during the second Trump administration. Targeting Illegal immigration was a key campaign promise from Donald Trump as he successfully campaigned for a second term.

Ríos is an award-winning journalist who reports for WBUR, Boston’s NPR news station, where he covers how Greater Boston is changing. Ríos has worked at WBUR for more than a decade and has reported on a wide range of topics, from housing to politics.

In Rios' Pulitzer Center-supported project, Seeking Shelter, he reported on immigrant families seeking refuge in a Boston-area shelter.

Washington University is an originating partner in the Pulitzer Center’s Campus Consortium network.
