Pulitzer Center grantee Louie Palu will visit the School of the Art Institute of Chicago on September 24-25, 2025.
Palu will meet with art education students enrolled in the The Art of Crossing the Street course to discuss his photojournalism work, career, and his most recent Pulitzer Center-supported project, Theater of Politics. In addition to this class visit, Palu will facilitate a training session for photography students.
He is a photographer and filmmaker whose work has examined social political issues, including human rights and conflict. He has been selected for a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, a World Press Photo Award, and Pictures of the Year International honors.
Palu's work has examined various topics, including the drug war in Mexico, conflicts in Afghanistan and Ukraine, and the changing geopolitics in the Arctic. His work has been published widely, and his documentary films have been broadcast and screened worldwide.
In addition to Theater of Politics, he has received Pulitzer Center grants to support multiple projects, including Arctic Frontlines, New Cold War, and Drawing the Line: The U.S.- Mexico Border.
