Pulitzer Center grantee Fred de Sam Lazaro will visit Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications on October 19 and 20, 2023, to speak with undergraduate and graduate students about his career.
De Sam Lazaro will visit classes and present at a Medill Friday event on the graduate campus in Chicago. He will discuss his work with students and share his extensive career experiences that led him to where he is today. Following the presentation, he will meet with graduate students for small-group discussions.
De Sam Lazaro is executive director of the Under-Told Stories project and has served as a correspondent for PBS NewsHour since 1985. He has reported from 70 countries with a focus on the myriad issues that underlie poverty and human suffering, issues that are often underreported in the U.S. mainstream media.
The Pulitzer Center has partnered with de Sam Lazaro on many Under-Told Stories reports. Under-Told Stories is building a library of social innovation and entrepreneurship reports designed to use storytelling to enhance students’ understanding of the pressing global issues of our time.
