Pulitzer Center grantee and WWNO reporter Halle Parker will visit the University of Missouri on November 21. Parker will visit the University’s Ag & Water Desk, where she serves as a mentor; meet with students; and deliver a presentation on her Pulitzer Center-supported work.

Parker followed the liquid natural gas (LNG) supply chain with Carlyle Calhoun from an export facility in Louisiana to Germany, which imports LNG, and Japan, which finances it, for their three-part podcast series made with support from the Pulitzer Center, All Gassed Up. Natural gas was characterized as a “bridge fuel” to renewables in the 2010s. American LNG exports have grown 65% each year since 2010, delivering enormous profits to gas companies. But according to experts, natural gas is just a bridge to more gas.

Parker reports on the environment for WWNO’s Coastal Desk. Before, she covered Louisiana’s environment for the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate, and down the bayou for the Houma Courier. Her work has centered on environmental justice issues and Louisiana’s coastal land loss crisis.
