Pulitzer Center grantee Mae Azango and New Narratives co-founder Prue Clarke will speak at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism on April 26.
Azango, a Liberian reporter for FrontPage Africa and New Narratives, was forced into hiding after publishing stories about female genital mutilation. Azango's courageous reporting prompted the government of the Liberia to take a stand against this dangerous ritual. Clarke is a visiting professor at the CUNY Journalism School.
New Narratives is a team of leading African media houses and journalists using the power of the media to transform their countries.
The event is free and open to the public.
