On Tuesday, March 20, 2018, Pulitzer Center grantee journalist Richard Stone speaks at a community-wide forum at Forsyth Technical Community College about his reporting on chemical weapons and the survivors of its use whose stories are intertwined with deterrence efforts.
Stone's reporting came at a time when the fate of the Iran nuclear agreement hung in the balance. His reporting reminded readers that Iran and its citizens themselves had been victims of weapons of mass destruction.
During the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s, chemical weapons killed or sickened tens of thousands of Iranians. Now, studies of the survivors are helping to prepare for—or even deter—future attacks.
Stone's community-wide talk is part of his two-day visit to the campus that includes conversations in classes and more informal sessions. Forsyth Tech is one of the Pulitzer Center's Campus Consortium partners.
