The Mill Valley Library in in Mill Valley, California, presents an evening with Alex Cuadros—author of Brazillionaires and the Pulitzer Center-supported report for The New York Times Magazine, "Has the Amazon Reached Its 'Tipping Point'?"

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, December 3, 2024, 6:30-8:00pm Pacific.

A conversation with writer, reporter, and University of California, Berkeley, professor Mark Danner, the event is in honor of Cuadros' new work of journalistic nonfiction, When We Sold God's Eye, the story of the Cinta Larga, a tribe that had no contact with the West until the 1960s and came to run an illegal diamond mine in the Amazon.

Based on six years of reporting and research, When We Sold God's Eye tells a unique kind of adventure story, one that begins with a river journey by Teddy Roosevelt and ends with smugglers from Antwerp and New York City’s Diamond District.
