For the last four months, Pulitzer Center grantee Nick Miroff has been reporting on the spillover from Mexico's drug war into other Central American countries. The Mexican cartels looked to Central America as a place to expand their trade and create smuggling routes. Miroff traveled to Belize, Honduras and Costa Rica to see how people were coping with the increase in violence and drugs. Many of those he spoke with agreed the United States should expand its response and presence in the struggling countries.
