On March 18, 2021, the Pulitzer Center education team invited students, their teachers, and parents/guardians to join us for the webinar, "Sharing Stories of Gender and Migration." In this webinar, Kataleya Nativi Baca shared her story of facing danger in Honduras as a transgender woman, and her decision to flee to the U.S.-Mexico border, where she awaits her asylum case hearing. Photojournalist Danielle Villasana shared how she has documented Kataleya's journey through powerful photography as part of Women on the Move, a reporting project about the intersection of gender and migration around the world. The project was published in National Geographic as part of a collaboration with The Everyday Projects and features stories of migration from eight women who have migrated from eight different parts of the world.
Curriculum from the Women on the Move project is available on the Pulitzer Center website.
