Photographer Stephanie Sinclair is a finalist for a 2012 National Magazine Award in the news and documentary photography category for her work published in the June 2011 issue of National Geographic. Sinclair's astonishing photo essay, "Too Young To Wed," exposed the secret practice of child marriage in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
Given by the American Society of Magazine Editors in association with the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, the National Magazine Awards were first presented in 1966 to honor excellence in the magazine industry.
Sinclair's photography of child brides recently won a World Press Photo Award. Her multimedia story on the subject, sponsored by the Pulitzer Center in association with National Geographic and VII photo agency, took second place at Pictures of the Year International. The Pulitzer Center also featured Sinclair's work as part of its FotoWeek DC exhibit in 2011.
