Pulitzer Center Executive Director Jon Sawyer spoke at this year's We Media conference in Miami. Jon's session, "Nonprofit World: Endowed Journalism," featured Ellen Miller, Executive Director of the Sunlight Foundation, and was moderated by John Bracken of the MacArthur Foundation.
The session's description: "As commercial journalism evolves, the influence and impact of nonprofit media is expanding. Non-profits are developing new journalistic models; advocacy groups who once relied on journalists are now making the news themselves. How do these changes effect the delivery, dissemination, and our understanding of news? What are the potential risks and benefits?"
We Media attracts a global audience of influential innovators — in person and online — and leaders from influential companies in media, technology and other sectors.
We Media Miami is organized and produced by iFOCOS, a non-profit media think tank and futures lab and home of the We Media Community, a global network of individuals and organizations from across industries who believe the power of media, communication and human ingenuity should be applied to innovate in business and to create better-informed global citizens.
The University of Miami School of Communication was the host sponsor and partner of the conference.
