Jon Sawyer featured in FRONTLINE/World Media Symposium

Pulitzer Center Executive Director Jon Sawyer was featured in FRONTLINE/World's Media Symposium on the changing rules regarding journalists in crisis situations. Jon and Joel Simon of the Committee to Protect Journalists discussed the challenges facing freelancers who work without the backing of large institutions. As an example, they discussed the case of Iason Athanasiadis, who has reported for the Pulitzer Center from Greece, Turkey and Iran. While covering Iran's disputed elections and their aftermath in June 2009, Iason was detained and jailed in Iran for 21 days.
