On Thursday, June 17, Eye on Ohio was honored in the 2020 Ohio SPJ Awards, winning the Best Government Issues Reporting prize for their work investigating property tax loopholes affecting small business owners throughout the state.

The Ohio-based news outlet was awarded for its Pulitzer Center-supported story, "How Much Are You Overpaying in Property Tax?", in which a five-person team spent ten months gathering, analyzing, and verifying millions of public records to calculate the amount that drops in LLC sales cost other taxpayers. The story is part of Eye on Ohio's investigative project, "Ohio Property Records."

The Ohio SPJ Awards recognize journalists whose work had significant reach throughout the state. For more information about the awards, click here.
