Nestor Ramos, a Pulitzer Center Connected Coastlines partner, was named a finalist for the 2020 Pulitzer Prize in feature writing for his Boston Globe story, “At the Edge of a Warming World.” Ramos’ piece explored how climate change is transforming Cape Cod.
The Pulitzer Center’s Connected Coastlines Initiative served as an education partner for “At the Edge of a Warming World,” producing curricular resources and co-hosting community events in Boston and on Cape Cod with The Boston Globe. Ramos also visited six high schools on the Cape with the Pulitzer Center education team.
Connected Coastlines is a nationwide climate reporting initiative in U.S. coastal states. The initiative is building a consortium of newsrooms and independent journalists across America to report on the local effects of erratic weather patterns on coastal populations using the latest climate science.
Currently, the Pulitzer Center is supporting 16 reporting projects and will cover climate change issues on every coastline in the mainland U.S.—the East Coast, Great Lakes, Gulf Coast and West Coast—along with Hawaii and Alaska.
