i. guardian angel

ángel de la guarda,
mi dulce compañía
no me desampares
y por favor no me olvides

the moment we allow the silencing to continue
and forget about paloma, adriana, or debanhi
is a moment of acquiescence to their power.
ángel de la guarda,
protégenos,
que están exprimiendo
la sangre inocente de nuestras hijas.

ii. holy mary

dios te salve, maría
for this corrupt system,
a synonym for el estado de chihuahua,
has drained your grace,
the light from your eyes,
and the laughter from your mothers.
santa maría, madre de dios
ruega por todas nosotras
ahora
y en la hora de nuestra muerte.

iii. prayer to the holy spirit

espíritu santo,
amor del padre y del hijo,
¿qué es del amor para las madres e hijas?
a nosotras
que cargamos frutos benditos en nuestros vientres,
nos matan por ser mujeres.
este es un dolor
que no se quita con aspirina
ni con una simple oración.

iiii. el rosario

like the braid on my abuela’s back
and beads on rosary strand,
interlinked we are
rain
dust
stars.
interlinked as one
no aceptaremos que nos arrebaten
ni
una
más.
