South Africa is one of the only two countries worldwide where tuberculosis infections are rising. The region is also facing further challenges when patients develop resistance to the drugs used for their treatment. Patients are being sent home from hospitals yet "home" means dark, congested housing shared with family members: the perfect setting for this airborne disease to spread.
