Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Daniel Gonzalez will visit William & Mary on February 15-16, 2026.
Gonzalez will meet with students, including those participating in the Sharp Journalism Seminar. He will offer feedback on reporting projects and discuss the craft of developing journalistic stories.
On Monday, February 16, Gonzalez will deliver a talk titled "Volviendo a Casa: Migrants Returning Home," where he will discuss his series of groundbreaking stories, supported by the Pulitzer Center, that reveal how decades of mass migration to the U.S. suddenly stopped in 2025, giving rise to a new phenomenon: reverse migration.
The talk, organized by the Pulitzer Center and William & Mary’s Charles Center and Reves Center for International Studies, is scheduled for 4:00pm EST in the Grimsley Ballroom on William & Mary’s campus. It is free and open to the public.
Gonzalez is a journalist at The Arizona Republic, with more than four decades of experience in print and digital media.
Gonzalez was a lead writer for The Wall, which earned the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting. He has also received numerous other honors, including being named the Virg Hill Journalist of the Year award twice.
He has reported extensively along the U.S.-Mexico border, throughout Mexico, and from Guatemala, Panama, Puerto Rico, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Northern Ireland.
