Participant:New technology-based initiatives are making it possible to analyze vast amounts of data, provide up-to-the-minute registers of pollution, and use artificial intelligence and open source intelligence for reporting.
At the Society of Environmental Journalists' Annual Conference in Tempe, Arizona—April 23-26, 2025—a panel will address how journalists can access and use such technologies for everything from daily to deep investigative reporting.
The panel discussion, "Using Hi-Tech for Environmental Investigations," will include Pulitzer Center Research Editor Jelter Meers, who will talk about using online resources to hold companies and bad actors accountable in environmental reporting. Meers will cover databases and tips on investigating company ownership, supply chains, and conflicts of interest.
The panel event will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 10:00am local time at the Omni Tempe Hotel at Arizona State University in Tempe.
