Pulitzer Center Grantee Greg Constantine Exhibits Photography, Speaks in St. Louis

Pulitzer Center grantee Greg Constantine participates in Webster University's Human Rights Conference: The Rights of Indigenous Peoples & Stateless Persons on April 18 and 19 in St. Louis as part of his two-week visit to the United States to discuss his reporting on statelessness.

The conference at Webster kicks off a nearly month-long exhibition of Constantine's photography. The exhibition, which runs from April 18 to May 10, is hosted by Webster's Center for Human Rights and Humanitarianism and sponsored by the UNHCR, the UN's human refugee agency. The exhibition has traveled around the world for the past two years.

Since 2006 Constantine, a photojournalist based in Bangkok, has worked on a project called "Nowhere People," which examines the plight of minority groups who aren't citizens of any country. Exhibitions and projections of his work have been held in Dhaka, London, Geneva, Nairobi, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Washington and at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. His first book, "Kenya's Nubians: Then & Now," was published in late 2011 and his second book, "Exiled To Nowhere: Burma's Rohingya," was released in May 2012. Constantine also worked with reporter Stephanie Hanes on the Pulitzer Center's e-book "In Search of Home," which the National Press Photographers Association recently named one of the best Tablet/Mobile Delivery projects of the year. The e-book focuses on stateless people living in Kenya, Burma and the Dominican Republic.

While in the United States as part of the Pulitzer Center's Global Gateway education programming, Constantine also will visit with Pulitzer Center staff schools in Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington, DC, wrapping up with a Talks @ Pulitzer event at 5:30 pm on April 30.
