Country:
Event Date:
October 16, 2024 | 1:10 PM TO 1:50 PM America/BogotaOn the occasion of the 2024 United Nations Convention on Biodiversity (CBD-COP16) in Cali, Colombia, the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) is organizing a two-day online event that will discuss the global crisis that is accelerating and threatening food security, ecosystems, and worsening the climate crisis.
Focusing on media workers, the 7th GLF Investment Case Symposium will connect journalists, scientists, and changemakers in exploring critical topics, key sources, and tools to cover the environmental crisis. The event will also explore the complexities of financing nature to meet biodiversity goals.
Another main objective is to elaborate on how journalists and content creators can better inform on these urgent topics and help call attention to the pressing issues of our time. That reflection also guides the session organized by GLF and the Pulitzer Center, which will bring together two Pulitzer Center Fellows, Alexandra Talty, from the Ocean Reporting Network, and Fernanda Wenzel, from the Rainforest Investigations Network. The webinar will be moderated by Bruna Wagner, senior program manager, International Education and Outreach, at the Pulitzer Center.
Titled “Sounds of the Ocean and the Forest: Combining Environmental Journalism and Investigative Tools,” the session will be a space for Talty and Wenzel to discuss their experiences as investigative journalists in the environmental field. They will both talk about in-depth stories they built and how the relevant data for these was collected, while also sharing tips and best practices with the audience.
The 40-minute session will take place on October 16, 2024, from 1:10pm to 1:50pm (Bogotá time). The event is free of charge and applications can be accessed through this link.
The session will be conducted in English, but Portuguese and Spanish interpretation will be available.
