Renewable Energy-Powered Ovens Help Cameroon Coastline Fish Smokers Curb Mangrove Forest Degradation

Country:

Authors:

For decades, the overharvesting of mangroves along Cameroon’s coastlines has destroyed the mangrove ecosystem. But some eco-friendly solutions introduced in fishing communities is changing the game. This project investigates the innovations being made by multiple stakeholders to boost mangrove forest conservation along Cameroon coastline fishing communities.

We hope to paint a picture of how some renewable energy powered oven projects and ecological charcoal is turning the tide, including the perspectives of environmental experts and NGOs such as CWCS and Waterhed Task Group on the importance for mangrove forest conservation sampled.

Methodology will include field interviews of the multiple stakeholders, research on data and reports, and video reports.
