Iason Athanasiadis is a freelance writer, photographer and television producer covering the Middle East and Southeast Europe. Based out of Cairo, Damascus, Doha,Tehran and Istanbul since 1999, he has covered the Arabic and Persian-speaking countries of the North Africa, Levant and Persian Gulf region for a variety of print and audiovisual outlets. In 2007-08 he was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University.
