Allyn is an international freelance writer who has worked for the Los Angeles Times, CNN, Al Jazeera, Reuters, The Atlantic, France 24, The Philadelphia Inquirer and other media outlets. Recently based in Haiti, she covered the post-disaster political and humanitarian crises and recovery. She has also covered development news as a United Nations correspondent in New York, and global human rights issues as a blogger for the Foreign Policy Association.
She has won grants to support her reporting from the Kaiser Family Foundation, the National Press Foundation, The United Nations Foundation and the William Penn Foundation. Her work has also taken her to the Bahamas, the Democratic Republic of Congo, India, Mali, Mauritania and Senegal.
