Photos taken by Pulitzer Center grantee Cédric Gerbehaye were published in a photo essay in De Volkskrant's March 22, 2012 issue. A story, written by Marjolein van der Water, accompanied the photographs. Gerbehaye took the photos at the Jamam refugee camp in South Sudan. Everyday more refugees arrive as they move from camp to camp to escape air strikes, fighting and sexual violence. But with the rainy season imminent, the roads will soon be impassable, and these camps may lose access to food and water.

De Volkskrant is a national daily newspaper published in the Netherlands. The original text, in Dutch, can be seen here.
